If your New Year’s resolution was to get fit and fabulous, you’re not alone. But what should you do if you’ve already fallen off the wagon and your runners are gathering dust? How can you start smashing those fitness goals?

3. Set goals and record your progress

Want to run a marathon this year? That’s great, but can seem totally daunting if you’ve barely broken a sweat in the past two decades! And if your progress is too slow, you can quickly lose faith and chuck your training all together.

By all means aim for the stars, but make sure you break a big goal into smaller, more manageable goals too. If you want to start running, try an app like Couch to 10K, or if you want rock hard abs, increase your plank time by 10 seconds each time you work out. And keep a workout diary to record time, distance, reps and any other mini wins!

4. Get more sleep

If you’re not getting enough shut eye, you’ll be far less motivated to head to spin class. Seven to nine hours is generally recommended, but everyone’s different. The best test is to listen to your body.
