Working out with a friend or ‘special friend’ is a sure fire way to get the most from your workouts. Not only because working up a sweat’s more fun when you’re in good company, but because research shows you’re likely to work harder. There’s nothing like a little friendly competition to boost your motivation levels!

Knowing someone’s waiting for you also keeps you accountable and forces you out of bed on chilly mornings. So buddy up to kick some butt!

2. Try something you’ve never done

Sticking with the same old workouts? No wonder you’re bored! Make 2017 your year of new experiences, and try something a little (or a lot) different. It’ll keep you interested in exercise and switching it up also helps prevent your results from plateauing.

3. Set goals and record your progress

Want to run a marathon this year? That’s great, but can seem totally daunting if you’ve barely broken a sweat in the past two decades! And if your progress is too slow, you can quickly lose faith and chuck your training all together.

By all means aim for the stars, but make sure you break a big goal into smaller, more manageable goals too. If you want to start running, try an app like Couch to 10K, or if you want rock hard abs, increase your plank time by 10 seconds each time you work out. And keep a workout diary to record time, distance, reps and any other mini wins!

4. Get more sleep

If you’re not getting enough shut eye, you’ll be far less motivated to head to spin class. Seven to nine hours is generally recommended, but everyone’s different. The best test is to listen to your body.

If you’re consistently struggling to get out of bed in the morning, you’re probably not getting enough. To help you drift off, keep tech out of the bedroom and out of reach for two hours before bed. Or try one of these tasty snacks to send you to the land of nod.

5. Start your day with an energy boost

If you like to work out in the morning, consume your caffeine first to rev up fat burning. But if you’re watching calories, you might want to skip the creamy latte and sip on herbal tea instead. SkinnyMint Morning Boost tea is the perfect, lighter alternative, with only two calories and a delicious fruity taste. The naturally caffeinated tea contains green tea and guarana to instantly boost energy. So you’ll power through your burpees.

6. Work out smarter not longer

Sticking to long, punishing workouts can be hard. Who even has time? Thankfully, the recent trend towards high-intensity interval training shows that you can burn MORE calories and fat in half the time. The BodyBoss Method promises big results and is built around three weekly HIIT workouts of under 24 minutes!

Its secret weapon lies in unlocking the afterburn effect, which means your metabolism is still boosted HOURS after you’ve stopped sweating.
