7 Workouts the Celebs Love
They’re paid to look great, so when it comes to workouts, celebs only want the best. From Gigi’s crazy-flat abs to Lea Michelle’s great glutes, bangin’ bods aren’t built by sitting on the sofa.
So stop stalling and start sweating it out with one of these seven celeb-approved workouts.
1. Ballet Barre
Celebs need to be poised to rock the red carpet, and who’s more poised than a ballerina? Ballet barre inspired classes are super popular for their ability to sculpt the body and create long, lean muscles. Drop by any class at The Bar Method, Physique 57 or Ballet Beautiful and you’ll likely run into the likes of Zooey Deschanel, Lily Aldridge or Lucy Hale practicing their black swan.
This amped up indoor cycling method has taken spin to the next level, and the stars are hooked. The killer cardio workout at SoulCycle teams upper body and core work with hardcore cycling, dim lighting, motivational sound bites and pumping tunes. The celeb cult of devotees includes Demi Lovato, Lea Michelle and Katie Holmes.
Where do the celebs head for a fast-paced, calorie-torching three-in-one workout? A piloxing class! This relatively new fitness craze was developed by a Swedish dancer and celeb trainer and draws on a butt-kicking combo of boxing, dance and pilates. And it’s the reason Hilary Duff and Ashley Tisdale look so darn good.
Stand-up paddleboarding, or SUP, might look leisurely, but it’s a core-some workout that tones the tummy, arms and shoulders. It’s the perfect way to stay in shape on vacay, with celebs including Jen Aniston, Giselle and Cameron Diaz among SUP’s many fans. And who could forget those photos of Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry…
5. Barry’s Bootcamp
First opening a studio in Cali almost 20 years ago and now with locations across the US, UK and Norway, the classes at Barry’s Bootcamp are INTENSE, INSANE and incredibly high energy. Not for the faint hearted and definitely not for those afraid to sweat, the classes combine resistance training and treadmill sprints. With pumped up trainers and tunes. Jessica Biel and Sandra Bullock are fans of the calorie torching method.
6. Aerial Yoga
Gwyneth Paltrow, Pink and Vanessa Hudgens love to fly high with anti-gravity yoga. Suspended by silk hammocks or elastic bands, aerial yogis enjoy freer movement and even greater flexibility. It’s a whole new world of poses that provide a great stretch for the spine, and some serious core work. And who hasn’t dreamt about flying?
One look at Gigi Hadid is all the inspo we need to jump in the ring. The angelic super works out with trainer Rob Piela at NY’s Gotham Gym on the reg, while Helena Christensen hits up Mendez Boxing and Adriana Lima spars her way into shape. Boxing is incredible for toning those abs, and improves strength and agility, just for starters.
