Wanted: sporty/adventurous types who are looking to spice up their workouts. Must be open-minded.  Gym-junkies need not apply…

 

Hitting the gym may be great for your abs but all those squats and weights can get a bit monotonous. Add some adventure to your routine and try these alternative sports that are anything but run of the (tread)mill.

Boxing

Boxing is so hot right now, especially with supermodels like Gigi Hadid, Gisele and Adriana Lima, who love the full-body workout.

This calorie-burning, stress-relieving sport will burn fat, tone your body, give you confidence and keep your heart healthy. With all that running, skipping and sparring you’ll feel strong and ready to take on the world.

Rock Climbing

You don’t have to be Spiderman to scale walls.  Rock climbing is an exhilarating way to get fit and heighten your (spidey) senses by staying mentally strong and dexterous.

You’ll use most muscles in your body and will strengthen your core – it’s good for calorie burning, flexibility and stress relief and can be done inside or out.

Stand-up paddle boarding

Stand-up paddle is great for health and well-being.

It’s easy to do and has all the thrill of surfing once you’ve mastered it, or you can paddle on flat water for a more relaxed ride. You don’t have to be super-fit or agile to try it — head along to a beginners class, spin round that pole and you’ll be fit and fabulous in no time.
